Jeremy J Harper
Tabletop RPG Writer, Designer, & Equity Consultant
Welcome!I'm a queer, nonbinary, mixed Black educator, game designer, and consultant. I've designed a number of my own games and have been a contributing writer on several projects. On most weekdays, I can be found working as an educational developer at a large state university. Specifically, my department helps faculty and staff create more equitable and inclusive learning and working environments. My writing is informed by my work in education, my activism, my experiences organizing within my communities, and my love of speculative fiction. Ultimately, as in all fields, my approach to games is guided by visions of safe, equitable, and just communities where every member has the supports they need to be successful.
Commisions & Contributions
I'm always looking for more opportunities to collaborate with other creatives on TTRPG projects. I love the process of bringing my unique ideas and perspectives into alignment
with a larger vision. And I'm particularly excited about
projects where I get to celebrate my cultural identities while highlighting what makes a game unique or innovative. To see some examples of this work, click on any of the images next to the following project descriptions.
Jukebox: The Karaoke Musical Tabletop Roleplaying Game
I wrote the playset "Hearts take flight for Jukebox by Lyla Fujiwara. "Hearts Take Flight" is a Motown-, funk-, and R&B-fueled adventure in the lives of teen superheroes trying to stop their families from destroying the city they call home.
SlugBlaster
I created the hometown of "Oakmont Park" for the award-winning game Slugblaster by Mikey Hamm. Oakmont Park is inspired by Black urban neighborhoods that are full of love but deprived of opportunities. I wrote it in part to honor my dad, who grew up in Germantown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Cozy Town
I created "The Friends We Made Along The Way" for Cozy Town by Rae Nedjadi. "The Friends We Made Along The Way" is an optional oracle for players to explore the travels of their Townsfolk between seasons of regular play.
Sentients
I wrote "Awake In the Dark"--an introductory adventure designed to highlight the emotion mechanics for the in-development game Sentients. Sentients is a dystopian sci-fi game where the players take on the roles of awakened anthroids learning to process their newly acquired emotions while seeking to find their place in the world.Note: As Sentients is not yet published, clicking the image to left will take you to a single page sample of "Awake In The Dark".
Solo Projects
I've been developing and releasing my own small games on itch.io since 2020. I tend to create games about the complexities of building community in a society that intentionally targets and isolates so many of us.
Below are some of favorite projects I've published so far. The rest of my games are available at harkmorper.itch.io.
False Protagonists: A Queer Magical Girl Story About The Rest Of Us
False Protagonists is a gm-less, diceless, no-prep collaborative storytelling game about queer community, queer heroes, parasocial relationships, and magical girls.
Monster Squad Goals
Monster Squad Goals is a low-prep, GM-less, slice-of-life storytelling game for 3-5 players. It's a Loaded by a Goblin game about falling in love with your friends and--along the way--with your own monstrosity.
The Teenager--A Role for Warmer In The Winter TTRPG
"The Teenager" is a role designed to be playable with Gamenomicon's Warmer In The Winter. This role is for those who are willing to pull out all the stops to get the romantic leads together.
